What is Tennis elbow

Repetitive arm motion weakens arm muscles and tears the tendons connecting muscles to bones, causing tennis elbow.

Tennis elbow occurs when the tendons (the tissues connecting muscles to bones) become overloaded, causing inflammation, degeneration, and tearing. When tennis players grip their racquets too tightly, they tend to develop this painful condition, medically known as lateral epicondylitis.

Causes of tennis elbow

Forearm muscles are repeatedly contracted when straightening and raising your hand and wrist, resulting in tennis elbow. 

 

As a result of repeated motion and stress, tiny tears can occur in the tendons connecting the forearm muscles to the bony prominence outside your elbow.
